CentoMiglia del Garda: more than 100 boats expected for the 76th edition

More than 100 boats are expected on Lake Garda for the 76th International CentoMiglia, scheduled from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September, with starts and finishes in Bogliaco di Gargnano. Organised by Circolo Vela Gargnano under delegation from the Italian Sailing Federation, the event will bring together the ORC regatta, Multicento, Cento People, Cento Junior and Regata Homerus.

The provisional list, updated on 2 September, includes 95 boats entered in ORC, with further entries still possible. Twelve crews are competing in the Double Handed category and four boats belong to the ORC Classic division. Multicento and Cento People currently have five boats between them, pending possible new registrations.

The Lake Garda fleets are particularly well represented, with 22 Dolphin 81s and 14 Asso 99s. Participants include Thomas Jundt’s QFX SUI 1, winner of the Trofeo Gargnano in 2025, Marco Cavallini’s Idefix and Giovanni Montresor’s Lexotan. Also returning are Jo Richards, an Olympic bronze medallist in the Flying Dutchman and winner of the 2009 CentoMiglia, and Roberto Benamati, a thirteen-time winner of the event in different onboard roles.

On Friday 4 September at 9 a.m., the Regata Homerus will start, a match race dedicated to blind sailors. The Cento Junior will follow at 1 p.m., with Optimist and RS Feva boats on the course between Gargnano and Villa. On Saturday at 8.30 a.m., the Trofeo Gargnano will set off from Bogliaco to Gargnano, Desenzano and back; the second day of the Cento Junior is scheduled for 9.30 a.m.

On Sunday at 8.30 a.m., the Trofeo Gorla will start, with the course passing towards Limone, Torbole and Malcesine, at Navene, before returning to Bogliaco. The Cento People will also start at 9 a.m.; it is a non-competitive sailing event for sailing schools, charter operators, families and enthusiasts.

The final ORC Overall classification will be calculated by adding the results from the Trofeo Gargnano and the Trofeo Gorla, with no discard, and will award the Trofeo Bettoni. The Trofeo Beppe Croce will be reserved for Double Handed crews.

Throughout the weekend, Piazza di Bogliaco will host music, shows, food trucks and live links from the regatta. A talk show with figures from the sailing world is scheduled for Friday at 5.30 p.m., followed by the opening ceremony and the Divalicious show. Omar Pedrini is expected to perform musically on Saturday, while the cover band Bollicine will perform a tribute to Vasco Rossi in the evening.

The regatta will be accompanied by updates, images and videos on the social media channels of Circolo Vela Gargnano and CentoMiglia. GPS tracking by Kwindoo will also be available during the Trofeo Gargnano and the Trofeo Gorla.
