The Piazza degli Alpini in Castelnuovo del Garda will be inaugurated on Sunday, 13 September, at 7 p.m. in front of the town hall, following the redevelopment of the square and the paving in Via Marconi and Via dell’Artigliere.

The Piazza degli Alpini in Castelnuovo del Garda will be inaugurated on Sunday, 13 September, at 7 p.m. in the area in front of the town hall. The ceremony will mark the completion of redevelopment works that also affected part of the square and the paving in Via Marconi and Via dell’Artigliere. Municipal authorities will attend, followed by refreshments and a concert.

Designed by architect Cinzia Frapporti, the project has reshaped one of the main links between Piazza della Libertà and the heart of the town. The works aim to make the area safer, more accessible and easier to use in the evening, while strengthening its pedestrian character and its connection with historic landmarks such as the Church of Santa Maria, the Visconti Tower and Brolo Park.

The new paving features contrasting arched patterns made with porphyry setts, continuing the square’s traditional style. The access staircase and the accessibility ramp have also been redesigned; the ramp is now made with porphyry slabs. Two new planters with seating define the space and echo elements already present.

The area in front of the town hall has also been completely redesigned, with smooth, non-slip white stone slabs. The former green area has been converted into a parking space reserved for people with disabilities. The project also includes new stone benches integrated into the retaining wall, spherical high-performance concrete bollards and LED pedestrian lighting.

Mayor Davide Sandrini highlighted the importance of the project for the quality of public space and the enhancement of the historic centre. The evening programme includes the ribbon-cutting at 7 p.m., refreshments at 8 p.m. and the concert “Corde d’Italia” at 9 p.m., part of the “Suoni e sapori del Garda” series. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the XI Aprile 1848 civic hall.
