“Colori sul Lago”: Danilo Rossi solo exhibition in Moniga

From 19 to 31 August 2026, the Palazzo Comunale in Moniga del Garda hosts “Colori sul Lago”, a solo exhibition by Danilo Rossi, arranged in the Sala Polivalente in Piazza San Martino. The exhibition is open every day from 10 am to noon and from 5 to 10 pm, with a route devoted to Garda landscapes and the artist’s memories.

The exhibition opens with a lively sequence of flower bouquets in shades of pink, yellow, purple, red and white. One of the works also depicts a meadow-greenhouse in Valtenesi, while the route continues through numerous lake views: the road from Maguzzano towards the lake, boats along the shores of Isola del Garda, small harbours with white sails, Bo beach in Desenzano, the bay of Salò and the area around Manerba harbour.

Rossi also focuses on Tignale and the cypress trees of Gardone, portrayed on narrow vertical canvases. Other paintings depict lively beaches, small wooded inlets, rows of poplars in dialogue with the Mincio and figures standing before the horizon.

The works also include images more closely linked to memory: a farmer gathering willow branches to tie the vines, sunsets beside the parish church, nudes inspired by Matisse, a farmer along a snow-covered path in Valsabbia and the snow that had covered the castle, the church roof and the streets of Padenghe.

The new exhibition highlights renewed tones, with luminous yellows in the leaves, pink dawns and vividly coloured sunsets. The technique alternates between palette-knife work and brushstrokes, helping to make the lake reflections vibrant and defining the artist’s spontaneous, naïve style.
