Francesco Misino exhibition at the Lechi Museum in Montichiari

Francesco Misino’s “Astrolabio” exhibition opens on Saturday, 29 August, at 4 pm in the ground-floor rooms of the Lechi Museum in Montichiari and will remain open until 27 September. The exhibition is dedicated to the work of painter Francesco Misino, originally from Apulia and now based in Veneto. It is organised in collaboration with Montichiari Musei and under the patronage of the Municipality of Montichiari.

Misino was born in Bisceglie, in the province of Bari, on 21 December 1952 and completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari. After obtaining his teaching qualifications, he taught Painting at the State Art High School in Verona from 1976 to 2011. He lives and works in Verona.

Throughout his career, he has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions. These include “Penelope”, presented at the La Meridiana Gallery in Verona in 1986; “Il Bandolo della Matassa”, at the Il Brandale Gallery in Savona in 1987; and “I Materiali”, at the Sabbie D’Arte studio-workshop in Verona in 1990. These were followed by “Clessidra” in Verona in 2002, “Per filo e per segno” in the same year, and several group exhibitions held at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona and at the Incorniciarte cultural association in 2008.

The artist’s work is accompanied by critical commentary from Lia Franzia, who identifies in the pieces a reflection on time and on the possibility of crossing through it by means of images and materials. Her analysis refers to knotted hemp ropes, straw threads and glass marbles, together with colours intensified by brushwork and collage interventions.

According to the critic, these elements recall artefacts seen in museum display cases and on the pages of books and magazines, evoking stories of wars and loves, intrigues and revenge, celebrations and mourning. The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2.30 to 6 pm, while on Sundays it can be visited from 3 to 7 pm. The project is presented as part of the activities of Montichiari Musei.
