Young people complete five-day work-voucher project in Arco
In Arco, a town at the northern end of Lake Garda, young participants completed five days of practical work in public spaces through the local work-voucher scheme.
Arco’s work-voucher initiative concluded after five days of activities carried out by young people in several public spaces, with support from tutors Arianna Angelini and Martina Calza and handyman staff Augusto Mascher and Enrico Meneghelli.
The groups worked in the Archducal Park, at the Massone cemetery and in Piazza Italia, carrying out maintenance work that included clearing vegetation, treating gates and doors, renewing flowerbeds and repainting yellow kerb markings.
At the municipal depot, participants prepared benches for the historic centre and restored trestles and trolleys used at local cemeteries. A second group repainted benches and tables at Romarzollo primary school, repaired the drinking fountain and tended the flowerbeds.
That group also cleared ivy and dry debris at the Via Mantova cemetery and weeded the Lavandaie lane. At the inter-municipal youth centre Cantiere 26, control boxes were repainted after graffiti removal; the entrance courtyard of the town hall and walls beside the bicycle parking area were also cleaned and repainted.
At the end of the project, the mayor and a councillor awarded shopping vouchers valid at participating local stores: 50 euros for participants and 100 euros for tutors. The municipality thanked the young people, tutors and handyman staff involved in the public-space maintenance work.
