Francesco Misino’s Mixed-Media Techniques on Display at the Museo Lechi in Montichiari

The “Astrolabio” exhibition opened at the Museo Lechi in Montichiari on Saturday, August 29. This solo exhibition by Apulian artist Francesco Misino presents around thirty works created using mixed media. The exhibition is installed in the museum’s ground-floor rooms and will remain open until Sunday, September 27.

The opening was attended by Councillor for Culture Martina Varone, also representing director Federico Troletti, and Michela Capra, curator of Montichiari Musei. Varone thanked the artist for choosing Montichiari and the museum staff for their collaboration.

Capra linked Misino’s work to the field of Arte Povera, highlighting his use of simple materials such as fabric, glass, stones and gauze, assembled on canvas and reinterpreted through colour. The works on display combine pictorial and sculptural-material components, with particular attention to experimentation and aesthetic effect.

The title “Astrolabio” refers to the ancient astronomical instrument used for orientation and to indicate a route. For Misino, this image becomes a metaphor for personal research: materials, shapes and colours are tools for identifying a path, a project or a direction.

Misino was born in Bisceglie in 1952. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari and taught Painting Studies at Verona’s State Art High School from 1976 to 2011. He lives and works in Verona. Throughout his career, he has held solo and group exhibitions in various Italian cities, developing an artistic investigation based on thread, canvas and the composition of different elements.

The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 to 6 p.m.; on Sundays, it can be visited from 3 to 7 p.m. A biographical booklet dedicated to the artist is also available free of charge at the museum bookshop. The Museo Lechi’s opening hours and visitor information remain in effect until the exhibition closes.
