World Lakes Day: Bardolino backs Lake Garda’s Culture Capital bid
For World Lakes Day, Bardolino renewed its support for Lake Garda’s bid to become Italian Capital of Culture in 2029, presenting the lake as a shared environmental, social and cultural landscape.
World Lakes Day was used in Bardolino to draw attention to Lake Garda as an environmental, social and cultural asset shared by the communities around its shores.
The municipality described the lake as a common resource whose landscapes, history and traditions cross municipal boundaries, making continuing cooperation between the different Garda communities essential.
Bardolino’s support is part of the wider candidacy that presents Lake Garda not simply as a visitor destination, but as a cultural landscape shaped by a shared relationship between water, towns and communities.
The municipality also linked the bid to the role residents and local organisations can play in protecting the lake and passing on the places, customs and local knowledge that give the area its identity.
