76th Centomiglia del Garda: leading crews line up for Lake Garda’s classic sailing race

Una barca in regata alla Centomiglia del Garda

Lake Garda’s long-running Centomiglia sailing race returns on 5 and 6 September. Circolo Vela is organising the start and the accompanying programme for the 76th edition.

The 76th Centomiglia del Garda will bring crews, historic boats, redesigned yachts and new entries to Bogliaco over the weekend of 5 and 6 September. Harbours and small marinas are already busy with arrivals and rigging work ahead of the race.

Among the yachts expected on the start line is Grifo, a boat with a long connection to the Centomiglia and the Classe Libera. After a major refit, it has returned to Bogliaco and will race in the ORC category.

René Raffica HUN 89 will also compete. The second boat in the Raffica project is sailed by a group of young Hungarian sailors and was formerly known as René Lezard, a well-known Classe Libera yacht on Europe’s major lake-regatta circuit.

From 1992 to 1995, the yacht won four consecutive editions of the Rund Um, the long-distance race organised by Lindauer Segler Club on Lake Constance. Roberto Benamati, a 13-time Centomiglia winner in different onboard roles, is also confirmed for this year’s race.

Benamati will sail the Cape 31 Milkwave ITA 78, owned by Alessandro Lotto and Flavio Campana, after competing in the 75th edition aboard his Star. Circolo Vela Gargnano is organising the 2026 event on behalf of the Italian Sailing Federation, with a programme of races and shore-side activities.
