On Sunday, 6 September, the Museo Alto Garda in Riva del Garda will open the exhibition “Italians in the SS 1943–1945: Perpetrators and Executors”.
On Sunday, 6 September, at 5.30 p.m., the Museo Alto Garda in Riva del Garda will open the exhibition “Italians in the SS 1943–1945: Perpetrators and Executors”. It examines the involvement of Italians in the Italian SS Legion and the German Waffen-SS. The exhibition will be open until 3 October 2026.
The exhibition is curated by Gianfranco Ceccanei. It was conceived by the Carlo Levi association of Berlin and promoted by ANPI Alto Garda and Ledro in cooperation with the Riccardo Pinter association. The documentary display aims to encourage reflection on republican democracy and the anti-fascist Constitution, with particular attention to young students and the wider community.
The opening event will feature the choir of Berlin’s Carlo Levi association, which will perform several songs by deportees, followed by a film screening about partisan Riccardo Goruppi.
The programme will continue on Monday, 7 September, with a documentary about the massacre of Italian military internees in Treuenbrietzen. Admission to the events is free, and no booking is required.
