Arco hospital is at the centre of a development plan jointly agreed on 2 September 2026 by Provincial Health Councillor Mario Tonina, Alto Garda and Ledro Community President Giuliano Marocchi and the area’s mayors. The programme aims to strengthen the hospital’s role in Trentino’s healthcare network through new spaces, closer integration with local health services and the consolidation of specialist departments. It is also intended to address demand peaks linked to the area’s tourism vocation around the northern part of Lake Garda. Plans include an expanded emergency department, the reorganisation of dialysis services, spaces dedicated to women’s and couples’ health, and new technological equipment.

The first phase of the works is under way, financed with €9.8 million. It includes rebuilding Pavilion A, which has already been demolished, and improving the earthquake resistance of Pavilion B. Static testing is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. The relocation of the dialysis unit to around 800 square metres of new space, followed by the expansion of the emergency department, should be completed by spring 2028. In the medium term, the project is also expected to be updated to include approximately 4,000 additional square metres, mainly for administrative functions, thereby freeing up space for hospital and outpatient activities.
