On Monday, 7 September 2026, the MAG Museo Alto Garda will screen a documentary about the massacre of Italian military internees in Treuenbrietzen, as part of the opening programme of the exhibition “Italians in the SS 1943–1945: Perpetrators/Executors”. Admission is free and no booking is required.
The exhibition, on display at the MAG from 6 September to 3 October 2026, documents the involvement of Italians in the Italian SS Legion and the German Waffen-SS. It is curated by Gianfranco Ceccanei, conceived by the Carlo Levi Association of Berlin and promoted by ANPI Alto Garda and Ledro in cooperation with the Riccardo Pinter Association.
The exhibition aims to encourage reflection on republican democracy and the anti-fascist Constitution, with particular attention to young students and the entire community.
The official opening will take place at the MAG on Sunday, 6 September. The programme includes a performance by the choir of the Carlo Levi Association of Berlin, which will sing several deportees’ songs, followed by a film about the partisan Riccardo Goruppi.
The closing event is scheduled for Monday, 7 September, with the documentary about the massacre of Italian military internees in Treuenbrietzen. The episode is at the heart of a historical memory that the exhibition seeks to explore further through documents and testimonies.
