In Riva del Garda, young participants in the “Ci sto? Affare fatica” project carried out cleaning and maintenance work in several parks, gardens and neighbourhoods throughout summer 2026. Girls and boys, tutors and volunteers took part in activities devoted to caring for shared public spaces.
The schedule was spread across the entire summer so that more young people could participate alongside their other commitments. The teams worked in Rocca Park, around the Porta orientale gardens, in the Verdi gardens, at Òra Park and in the Degasperi neighbourhood.
The activities mainly involved removing weeds and sanding and painting benches and fences. Volunteers Paolo Grottolo, Fausto Maroni and Enzo Pellegrini supported participants with the manual tasks, while tutors Arianna Angelini, Martina Calza and Delia Grassi coordinated the groups.
The initiative is run by the Giovani Arco association with support from the municipal works department. At the end of each week, participants receive “buoni fatica”, shopping vouchers to be used in participating shops: 50 euros for the young people and 100 euros for the tutors.
Deputy Mayor Barbara Angelini described the project as an opportunity for young people, families and the wider community. She highlighted the value of work carried out in public places and the participants’ contribution to caring for Riva del Garda.
