Piazza Corlo: Traffic Changes Approved, Five New Parking Spaces

The Municipal Council of Lonato del Garda has approved changes to vehicle circulation on the south side of Piazza Corlo, opposite the church, including five new parking spaces. The decision, adopted through resolution no. 96/2026 on the evening of Tuesday, August 4, responds to requests from local businesses and residents.

The spaces will be created in the section of the piazza between the pillars of the historic walls and the start of Via Sorattino. On weekdays, parking will be regulated by a 30-minute parking disc between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The new arrangement will be governed by Local Police Order no. 274/2026, replacing the current traffic layout introduced on a trial basis after the piazza redevelopment project and extended by Order no. 183/2026.

The administration plans to remove the concrete barriers currently marking the perimeter of the piazza, paint the road markings and install vertical signs. Parking will instead be prohibited along the section directly facing the church.

This area will be separated by pedestrian-protection posts to improve users’ safety in relation to the vehicle lane, and will be completed with several semicircular seats made of reconstituted stone.

The works are expected to take approximately ten days, unless unforeseen obstacles slow them down. The Municipality of Lonato del Garda will issue updates through its official channels.
