Lazise between history and legend: guided tour of the village on 13 September

On Sunday 13 September 2026, Lazise on Lake Garda will host a guided tour through medieval walls, lanes, traditions and popular stories, led by licensed tour guide Francesca Cargnoni. The route will start at 3 pm from the Lazise Tourist Information Office in Via Porto Vecchio and will last approximately two hours.

The event, entitled “Lazise: History and Legends”, will take participants to the places and events that shaped the development of the historic village on Lake Garda. The story will also focus on the privilege granted by Emperor Otto II in 983, traditionally associated with the birth of Italy’s first free municipality.

The walk will also explore the medieval fortifications, the rule of the Scaligers and the presence of the Serenissima, linking architectural and historical features with the popular traditions that still define Lazise’s identity.

A special contribution will be given by Dr Claudia Viani, a graduate in Communication and Digital Media and author of a thesis on innovative and digital strategies for promoting Lazise’s historical and cultural heritage.

Her contribution will consider the relationship between cultural heritage, digital place branding and sustainable tourism, showing how the history of historic villages can be communicated through contemporary languages. Those who wish may conclude the experience with a convivial gathering featuring local flavours at a historic winery in the area.

The price is 12 euros for adults and 5 euros for children aged 6 to 14. Children aged 0 to 5 attend free of charge. The activity will be held in Italian and advance booking is mandatory.
