Denis Curti and Bruce Gilden will be at the centre of the next NESSUNO[DORME] monthly evening, scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, at 9 pm online via Zoom. The meeting will focus on the Magnum Photos photographer and his career in street photography, hosted by Curti, artistic director of Stanze della Fotografia.

Gilden helped rewrite the visual codes of black-and-white street photography, creating images marked by a powerful closeness to his subjects and a direct impact. During his research, he embraced the philosophy attributed to Robert Capa: “If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.”

The evening will also explore the photographer’s evolution towards posed street portraits, a phase in which documentary observation becomes intertwined with a more conscious relationship with the people portrayed. The visual power of his images will be interpreted as a form of storytelling capable of engaging viewers emotionally, transforming them from mere observers into participants in the story being represented.

The event marks the return of NESSUNO[DORME]’s monthly meetings after the summer break. Participation is reserved for the association’s 2026 members. Recordings of the year’s meetings will also remain available to members, who can receive the link on the day after the live broadcast and watch the events again during the year.

The evening’s programme is presented by NESSUNO[PRESS], an organisation that arranges meetings devoted to photography and visual culture.
